So, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Marvel’s Wolverine has been one of the most talked-about games in the last week or so. People are saying it’s mediocre, some people are saying it’s a ton of fun, and some are just enjoying the memes. We’re not here to talk about any of that. Instead, we’re here to talk about something actually important: the costumes. Like in previous Insomniac Games, Marvel’s Wolverine is filled to the brim with alternate costumes, and I’m here to talk about the 5 that have impressed me the most. Here are the 5 Best Suits in Marvel’s Wolverine.

You can never go wrong with black and yellow; this costume proves that. There are other Wolverine costumes (in this game and in general) that also use black and yellow, but this skin has a lot of unique things that make it stand out from those. For one, I really appreciate that his eyes are glowing red. They could’ve easily made them bright white, pitch black, or just given him eye holes. However, making them a completely different color than the rest of the costume makes it look extra special.
We also have to talk about the unique pattern on his chest. The sort of tiger stripes/claw marks on his chest really tie the whole “savage” motif together. I could do without the beard, but I guess that could also play into the savage concept.
Black and yellow are good, but blue and yellow might be even better. When I close my eyes and imagine Wolverine, he’s rocking a blue and yellow suit like this. Although I do envision him having more yellow than blue, but I digress.
What I particularly like about it is that the colors are pretty muted. They’re not bright and in your face; they’re more toned down. I also like the extremely short sleeves. For some reason, his having short sleeves just makes him seem more ruthless; I don’t know why that is, but it is.
This might be a controversial choice, but I don’t care. I think this suit in this game looks damn good. I love how the main color is unmistakably yellow, with the blue only appearing as an accent. I also like how bright the yellow is and how the blue shines. The long sleeves also don’t look bad at all. I wouldn’t say I love them, but at least they don’t take away from the costume.
The one thing I will critique this costume for is the giant shoulder armor it has; I’m not a big fan of it. I understand that that’s how it is in the movie, but the more I look at it, the less I like it. Even still, this remains one of the best skins in Marvel’s Wolverine.
Sometimes, there’s no beating the classics.
Okay, look, I’m no fashion expert. I’m just some guy talking about his favorite skins. But I had no idea brown and yellow could go so well together. Maybe they can’t, and this Wolverine costume is just the exception. Either way, this suit, the color scheme, the short sleeves- it all works together to create an exceptional suit.
I would’ve appreciated them making the colors a tad bit brighter, but that’s a small nitpick in the grand scheme of things.
Another controversial opinion of mine is that I believe the best live-action Wolverine suit we’ve ever gotten was the brown and yellow suit that we saw for a few seconds in Deadpool and Wolverine.
When coming up with this list, there were some skins that I thought about adding but ended up leaving out. Alternatively, there were some skins that were on the list that I ended up taking out. There was none of that when it came to this suit. As soon as I saw it, I immediately knew I wasn’t going to see a better suit than it.
The Ultimate Red suit is by far my favorite skin in Marvel’s Wolverine, and it legitimately might be the best skin in the game. The small red accents on his arms and legs. The red stripe going down his helmet. The gigantic red X in his chest. Yeah, this is amazing. What else to say?
But the thing that really is the cherry on top is the silver mouthpiece that this costume has. In almost every Wolverine costume, his chin and mouth are out in the open. It’s extremely rare to see that covered up, but this costume makes it work. The fact that it’s silver and not red or black makes it even better for me.
I feel extremely confident in putting Ultimate Red at the top of my list.
